Awarded Honorable Mention at the 2022 San Diego County Fair
This painting was painted during Covid. We were far enough into Covid that it was obvious things weren't going back to "normal" any time soon. The whole time I was painting it I was thinking of the old song that went, "those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end..." The painting is a conglomeration of memories from the 2019 San Diego County Fair. The musicians are members of Monette Marino's Atomic Groove, as it was comprised on that day. I took a little artistic license on their appearance. I do not know if the two dancers were a couple but they certainly danced like they had been dancing together forever. The funny part was that the man rode up on a mobility scooter. I can only guess he was preserving his strength because to see them dance was truly a joy!
